While sitting in the sun sipping on a nice cup of ice coffee. I realize today is my blogging day. Yes I am a fresh blogger and excitingly love my weekly task.

Blue sky, sea breeze and sunshine!

The topic speaks for itself. Today I will look at the pros, when it comes to having a destination wedding. As a Professional Wedding Expert. I am really passionate about saving, when planning your big day.

I know you hear that a lot from a lot of wedding professionals until they hand you the bill (laugh). No I honestly for the past 6-7 years have been a big advocate for budget friendly weddings. It’s only fair that after your wedding you can afford to live.

Below are thoughts when consider a destination wedding. Keep in mind that these thoughts are coming from a financial perspective.

Destination wedding

  • Apart from the fact you will be getting marriage and honey mooning at the same time; destination weddings are known to be most affordable.

  • Recent survey has shown the average destination wedding cost any way for 13,000-17,000 for a 100 people. That price normally includes flights, food, accommodation, onsite wedding co-ordinate and all the fabulous wedding décor you need.

  • You normally pay for yourself, so bride and grown pay only for bride and groom.

  • Your wedding party and guest pay for their own tickets

  • Believe it or not, recent survey shows that 80% of close friends and family members prefer to get invited to a destination wedding

  • You share your day with the people that you actually love and care for and those who love and care for you. With destination wedding, it’s highly unlikely your whole neighborhood is going to show up, but your close friends and family will make it their duty to be there because they love and care for you.

  • Your numbers are less, like I mention in my previous point, close friends and family will come to be there for you on such a historical day, so breath you don’t have to worry about your old high school, BFF who you no longer is close to, but feel obligated to invite her and boyfriend paying $130 bucks per plate for them both.

  • Everyone appreciate white sandy beaches, laying in the sun with pina-colada. So don’t worry your wedding venue will always be the best.

I recently found this clip from Young and thrifty brides magazine. saving tons and it is so accurate I can kiss the writer Mr. Young. But I decided to share it in this article because it’s so good. Also if you big on saving like me, you should visit their website at http://www.youngandthrifty.ca

The costs you would need to consider for a destination wedding:

  • Your wedding dress and suits

  • Passports if you don’t have them already; and Visas, if the destination requires it

  • Wedding Insurance (if you want) in the event of extreme weather issues or other unpredictable events (hurricanes! tropical storms! yuck!)

  • Bridesmaid and groomsmen outfits

  • Your flight and hotel package (depending on where you go, this can be cheap or expensive)

  • The reception (should be much cheaper because there are fewer guests)- you can probably strike a deal with the resort to include this in a package

  • Photographer and his or her transport costs

  • Destination Wedding Planner if you are using one to make sure you pick a good location and help you coordinate the shindig (unless it’s a hotel chain you are familiar with from Hawaii, if you pick any ol’ resort in Mexico judging from the pictures online only, you might be sorely disappointed when you arrive for your wedding)

  • Flowers- should be less costly than a traditional wedding, you probably won’t need as much- people won’t be looking at flowers when they have the majestic turquoise blue ocean in the background- trust me.

I know theses tips will be quite helpful to you, Please feel free to email or comment below. I am also looking for suggestions on topic to cover, let me know what you want me to blog about.

Cheers to all my beautiful brides to be
